Overview:

This article guides you through the process of creating and managing queries in MergeUp. Queries are essential for extracting data from Salesforce objects and populating templates with relevant information. We'll explore how to create a new query and understand the various fields associated with it.

Steps:

1. To create a new query, navigate to the template where you want to add the query. Locate the "New Query" button, positioned just above and to the right of the Queries table.

2. Click the "New Query" button, and a pop-up will appear, allowing you to enter the necessary details for the new query.

3. If there is no existing "Record" type query in the Template Group, you'll have the option to select between "Record" and "General" query types. If a record query already exists, the new query will default to type "General," and the option to switch will not be available. The choice between "General" and "Record" queries impacts whether you can specify a WHERE clause for the query.

4. Fill in Query Details:

• Type: Set the Query type as "Record" or "General" (if available).
• Name: Provide a unique name for the Query, which will be used to refer to and access it within your Template. Avoid using spaces in the Query name.
• Object: Select the Salesforce object on which the query will be based.
• Where Clause: Optionally, set the conditions for the WHERE clause of your query. This cannot be set for a "Record" query.

5. Once all required fields (indicated by a red asterisk) are filled, the "Create" button will become active. Click "Create" to finalize the query creation. The newly created query will be added to every Template in the Template Group.

Notes:

• Changes made to queries within a Template Group will apply to all Templates under that group.
