Prerequisites

• Access to create Template Groups
• At least one MergeUp template that has not been connected to a template group.

Overview

In MergeUp, template groups allow you to organize and manage your templates effectively. A template group is a collection of related templates that share a common purpose or context. Creating a new template group ensures your templates are well-organized and easily accessible.

Steps

1. To begin, open the template that needs to be added to a Template Group, go to the "Template Data" tab, and click "Create New Group."
   

2. Upon clicking the "Create New Group" button, a modal will appear, prompting you to enter the following details:

   • Template Group Name: Enter a descriptive name for your new template group. This name should reflect the purpose or context of the templates within the group.

   • Type: Choose between two options:

     • Record Type Group: If you select this option, an additional input field will appear, asking you to select the specific object for this group. The templates within this group will only be mergeable with this selected object type.
     • General Template Group: If you choose this option, your template group will not be tied to a specific object type.

   • Object Selection (For Record Type Group): If you opt for a "Record Type Group," a dropdown menu will appear after selecting the object type. Choose the appropriate object that aligns with the templates' purpose within this group. This object will define the scope of compatibility for merging templates.

     

3. Once you have filled in the necessary details, click the "Confirm" button and your template group will be created and you will be sent back to "the Template Data" tab. If you created a Record group, then a query is automatically added for you.
