Overview:

MergeUp offers an out-of-the-box formatting function that will display any number provided as a percent given the defined locale tag. This article will provide an overview of how to use the function, its syntax, parameters, examples, and additional notes to help you utilize it effectively.

Syntax:

{# p(field, locale) #}

Parameters:

• field: The number or merge field to be formatted as a percentage.

• locale: (Optional) A BCP 47 language tag specifying the desired locale for formatting the percent. Here is the full list of accepted values: BCP 47 Language Codes List - AppMakers.Dev

Examples:

Example 1: Formatting a Salesforce Merge Field

If you have a template based on Salesforce opportunities and want to display the probability of winning that opportunity as a percent, you can achieve this by using the following syntax:

{# p(Opportunity.Probability) #}

Assuming the opportunity record has a probability of 10% and that the organization/template's locale is set to 'en-US', this will display '10%' in your document:

10%

Example 2: Formatting a Calculated Number

If you want to utilize a number that you calculated from within the template, define that variable in an exec tag and then pass it into the p function along with its locale tag. For example:

{# p(myPercent, 'en-US') #}

Here, 'myPercent' is a calculated variable with a value of 20, and it will be displayed as '20%' in your document:

Notes:

• The function accepts the whole number equivalent of the percentage, and fractional percentages are not currently supported.
• If you don't specify a locale, the function will default to using the locale settings defined in your template or organization.
