Prerequisites

• Ensure there is at least one expression associated with the template you want to modify, and that the template is assigned to a template group.
• Ensure you have the necessary permissions to edit the expression object.

Overview

Modifying an expression in MergeUp is a straightforward process. You can update the alias or the expression text itself. Once you save your changes, the modified expression will be automatically applied when the associated template is merged. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to achieve this:

Steps

1. Begin by selecting the template you want to edit, then navigate inside it to the "Template Data" tab where you'll find the expression component at the bottom of the page.

2. Click the pencil icon on the expression you want to edit.

   

3. A modal will pop-up which will allow you to change to the expression's Alias or Expression fields in the modal.

   

4. You can also switch from no formatting to HTML formatting if desired by toggling the "Use HTML Expressions?" option.

   • Switching from no formatting to HTML formatting doesn't require a prompt.

     

   • If you need to switch from HTML formatting to no formatting, first accept the confirmation prompt.

     

   • The formatting will be removed from the Expression text after accepting.

     

5. After making your desired edits, click the "Confirm" button. Your changes will be automatically applied to the selected expression.

   

Notes

• It's important to understand that as soon as you click "Save," the modified expression will be in effect. Any time someone merges the template containing this expression or any template within the same template group, the updated expression will be utilized.
• If you switch from HTML to no formatting and save the Expression, there is no way to recover the previous formatting. If you unintentionally switch the Expression type, click the "Cancel" button to preserve any formatting.

Known Issues

• When switching from HTML formatting to no formatting, text in sub-bullets will be merged one line up and leave a blank line at the bottom of the list; this applies for both ordered and unordered lists.
