Overview

The c function in MergeUp serves as the currency formatting function. It takes a numeric variable as input and formats it as currency, considering optional parameters for locale and currency code. If these parameters are not explicitly defined, the function will default to the values set in your template.

Syntax

Parameters

• field: This is the only required parameter, representing the numeric value you want to format.

• locale (optional): A BCP 47 locale tag specifying the desired formatting rules. If not provided, the function will use the template's default locale. Here is the full list of accepted values: BCP 47 Language Codes List - AppMakers.Dev

• currency (optional): An ISO 4217 currency code indicating the currency symbol and formatting rules. If not provided, the function will use the template's default currency code. Here is the full list of accepted values: ISO 4217 - Wikipedia

Examples

Example 1: Formatting a Merge Field

Suppose you have a template with a base record on an opportunity, and you want to display the opportunity's amount field in currency formatting. Here's how you can achieve this:

Assuming that your template defined the locale of "en-US" and currency code of "USD" and that the Opportunity you merge on has an Amount of 100,000 then the result of this would be:

$100,000.00

Example 2: Formatting a Calculated Number

If you calculate a numeric value inside your template using JavaScript and want to display it as currency, it's straightforward. Just take the variable you've defined within the template and pass it into the c function, similar to the previous example:

Notes

• If the field parameter is an empty value, the function will not return anything.
• You can customize the formatting of currency by specifying different locales and currency codes as needed.
• If you don't specify a locale or currency code, the function will default to using the settings defined in your template or organization.
